A sophisticated knit vest made with "Washi cotton yarn" and "Made in Japan knit"
This Japanese knit vest is made from threads of Mino washi paper, which has a tradition of over 1300 years, and is knitted and sewn at a long-established knitwear factory in Yamagata. Washi paper is known as "Japanese linen" because it is a natural fiber that is "dry to the touch," "lightweight," "absorbent," "quick-drying," "breathable," and has many functional benefits such as being "resistant to pilling." Taking advantage of the appeal of this material, the vest "WILLY" is finished with a sophisticated design using the collar shape of the wide V-neck sweater "BILL." It is a new design that gives an urban impression while reflecting traditional Japanese techniques in the material.
The wide V-neck allows for flexible layering and is the key to this look.
The wide V-neck collar is designed to fit everything from T-shirts to collared shirts, which are the main tops of the summer. You can easily arrange it by matching it with your usual T-shirts and shirts. It also goes well with the knit polo shirt "TAISHI" made from the same material.
From casual shirts to oversized T-shirts, this silhouette is perfect for layering in any way.
The shoulder width and armholes are designed to be wide, making it easy to layer with anything from shirts to oversized T-shirts. The unique texture of washi knit goes well with not only high-quality Oxford fabric, but also with washed plain knit T-shirt fabric with a vintage feel.
Enjoy the luxury and dry touch of Mino washi paper, also known as "Japanese linen," and cotton fabric.
Among natural materials, washi paper is said to be lightweight, with excellent deodorizing, water absorption, quick drying, and breathability. In terms of functionality, it has benefits comparable to linen, and is often referred to as Japanese linen in the industry. Among these washi papers, Mino washi paper has been produced since the Nara period, and is a traditional material with a long history that has been certified as a traditional craft and registered as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Among the many types of washi paper, it is thin and even, and combines a soft and delicate texture with strong durability. It has a refreshing dry touch that is suitable for summer, and while it has a wealth of functional benefits, it also has a luxurious texture that is different from sporty pique or 100% polyester fabrics.
Another key point is that the knitted fabric has a different look on the front and back. The front knitted fabric is made of yarn that is made by wrapping cotton in Mino washi paper using a special twisting technique and intertwining it with polyester. The fabric has a firm texture, so it creates a silhouette that does not show the lines of the body. It is also less likely to pill, so it has the appeal of not losing its texture even after repeated wear.
The back side is made with AMOSSA, a strong stretch yarn that provides shape stability. The characteristics of AMOSSA tighten the knitting, giving it a tough impression even among high-gauge 12G jersey knits.
